1. What is the purpose of this website?
Students know which teachers are recommended and which are not. This site exists for students to share with each other what they think about PSU professors. Professors, in turn, get excellent feedback from the comment to improve their classes. <top>
2. Who can use this website?
Everyone! This site is for our entire community. If you want to post, we need to verify that you’re a student. You will need to have an ODIN e-mail account (i.e. e-mail address that ends with “@pdx.edu”) <top>
3. Do I have to pay for this service?
NO! This site is free to use. <top>
4. How do I rate my professors?
It’s fast and easy! Use the convenient menu system to select your professor. Next, click on “Rate this professor” at the bottom of the page. The survey is quick and simple. When finished, click on “Confirm”. Before your rating is posted online, we will send you an email that you will need to read. This is to verify that you have an “@pdx.edu” account. <top>
5. Do I have to post my name or email address?
No, you are not required to post your name or email address. <top>
6. What is acceptable content for a rating?
Keep it clean, please! Feel free to report on your professors, but please do it with respect. For more information, please check out our content guidelines. <top>
7. Can everyone (even
non-students) see these ratings?
Yes, everyone can access the
ratings and comments. However,
only people with a valid pdx.edu
email account can post a rating.
<top>
8. My comments never
posted? Why?
First make sure that you went
to your “@pdx.edu”
e-mail account and confirmed
your post. Only people with
a valid “@pdx.edu”
account can post to ratepsu.com.
If your post contained inappropriate
content it may have been red-flagged
and removed. Comments should
be about teaching ability. We
reserve the right to review
and remove any content or even
an entire rating. <top>
9. Who can rate? Is it limited
to students at PSU?
Only people with a “@pdx.edu”
account can post ratings. That
includes students, staff and
faculty. We encourage people
only to rate professors you
have first hand experience.
<top>
10. How soon are my comments
posted?
Immediately after they are confirmed
through your “@pdx.edu”
account. <top>
11. Why don’t
all the professors have contact
information?
It is up to the professor to
post their own contact information,
office location and hours. <top>
12. There is an error
with a professor, their name
is misspelled or they no longer
work here, what do I do?
Please e-mail the webmaster
at: aspsu@pdx.edu <top>
13. What does the red
flag mean?
If you find a rating inappropriate
you can ‘red flag’
it and send it back to us to
review. If the rating is deemed
inappropriate we will remove
it, if not we will simply keep
it on the site. <top>
14. Who runs this site?
This site is administered through
the Associated Students of Portland
State University located in
Smith 117.
<top>
15. I’m a teacher.
How do I get my name removed
from your site?
Well, the short answer is that
you don’t. The longer
answer is that this a valuable
tool for you to see what your
students are thinking and feeling
about your course. This is a
great way for you to learn about
the things that students usually
keep secret from you and to
gain valuable feedback about
your teaching style. <top>
16. I’m a teacher
and the ratings don’t
accurately reflect student opinion
of my classes. What can I do?
If you truly believe that the
ratings are unfair, then please
talk to your students about
rating you on the site. <top>
17. How are these different
from the evaluations I fill
out in class?
Well, for starters, you actually
get to see these reviews. These
ratings are similar to the evaluations
you fill out in class in that
they provide feedback about
a professor’s teaching
ability and classroom environment.
However, ratings on ratepsu.com
will be used by future students
to help them decide which classes
to take. <top>
18. Are these ratings statistically
accurate?
Not really. These ratings are
a listing of opinions and should
be read as such. However, the
more students that rate professors
the more representative they
will be. <top>
19. What if I don’t have
a “@pdx.edu” email
account but I am a PSU student?
Every PSU student has a “@pdx.edu”
e-mail account. To activate
your account or get information
about your account please visit
the help desk in the basement
of Smith Memorial Student Union.
<top>
20. I am not a current
Portland State University student
can I post comments?
Only individuals with current
pdx.edu accounts can post comments
on professors
21. I can’t find
my professor, what do I do?
Contact the webmaster at: aspsu@pdx.edu.
<top>
22. What if I see a
comment that I think is inappropriate?
There should be a red-flag on
the post. Click the 'flag
review' link and we
will review the post for an
indecent. <top>
23. Don't students use
this site just to get even with
their teachers? Aren't most
of the ratings negative?
Actually, most posting on sites
similar to this land on the
positive side. That being said,
students may choose to use this
site as a way to lash out at
a professor. This is not what
the site was created for and
posts like these ruin the legitimacy
of the site. Please see our
Posting Guidelines for recommendations
of appropriate postings. <top>
24. What is your privacy
policy?
All posts are made anonymously
and this site never asks for
personal information. That being
said, it is recommended that

personal identifying information
(like name, nicknames, etc.).
<top>
25. What if I want to sue your

Anyone has the ability to sue

into the first Amendment of
the US Constitution. <top>
